Working on the final structure of the box

For the past week and a bit, we have been working on the physical box for our studio project. Finalising the base and screwing in to attach the ‘lid’ or the bit with the hole. We’ve basically been finishing up and touching up the box with any needed physical/digital improvements, including making a little compartment to contain the Arduino and wires etc, and slightly changing the code.

Patrick has finalised the coding for the Arduino so far. Elil bought hinges that would be used for easy access for the Arduino which will be situated inside of the smaller box that will sit on top of the base box, near the hole. This is so that its just easier to control the project and access the components without having to fully lift up the box or turn it over...

As mentioned before, we really want ‘Gumball’ to show what it really is, which is recycled pieces of scrap wood and a scrap piece of acrylic too for the front part where the coupon is dispensed (shows the interior, arduino and label printer). We wanted it to look rough and janky to visually fit its purpose as a recycled and second-hand looking artefact. Seems to work like a charm.

We also started making fake coupons to test out the label printer. I will design the final coupons and Elil will contact local label printing services that can print our made coupons onto the actual label role. We have got all of the resources so far.

Things that are done: - - We’ve constructed the box base, coding and arduino hardwiring for the label printer, ‘fake’ label designs and target audience UXD and feedback.

We still need to find potential stores and services that will be willing to collaborate with some sort of discount agreement. We also need to find a local and affordable service that can print out the coupons on the label role.
