Design of the artefact

Design of the artefact

So after discussing with Elil and Patrick, we decided that this project would require an incentive more convenient for AUT students as a reward, and would suit this concept much more than dispensing gumballs. We decided to go with a label printer that prints out student discounts or vouchers relevant to AUT and it’s services. For instance, 5% or $5 off lunch in an AUT food shop or a Library printing discount code etc.

The top bit, which is essentially the project itself, is going to basically sit on top of the actual recycling bin. This piece is going to made of scrap wood which we got from the Art & Design building and Krishnas mechatronics workshop. Our motive for using scrap wood is because we want to allow the artefact to have an identity, as Clint also advised us that having a rougher, unpolished appearance will be more effective since we are foregrounding this project on material sustainability.
