Vague project concepts

• WW1 depicted Pressure Plates.

We are considering an idea using floor tiles/ carpet or pressure plates to construct a ground space, where essentially, the user would walk along it until they step on an explosive tile or piece of the carpet - which would ideally trigger a sound scape or audio recording from World War 1, specifically loud bombing and shooting audio noises. The moral of the concept is to show awareness of how easily innocent lives were taken during the first world war in 1914, both soldiers and civilians.

Some extra ideas expanding off of Patrick’s idea using floor tiles/carpet to show how innocent civilians were affecting through the war. Essentially, you’d walk around over the floor or carpet and then suddenly one of the tiles you’d step on would explode. There’s still a bit more to cover on the whole idea and details of the project as I’ve been away during the meeting.

Additionally, we could use Ultra Violet lighting or themochromic ink to uncover hidden messages/drawings etc. that are written on the tiles. Could be facts about the event or noble soldiers or quotes.

• Audio/soundscape: We are using a phone/radio with speakers.

We could manipulate the audio by layering the sounds on top of one another, making a more loud and thunderous sound. It could potentially be a combination of bombing, shooting, screaming noises recorded from the war and maybe the archival recordings regarding the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, which was initially of the primary causes of WW1.
